AUGMENTED WORLD EXPO TO UNVEIL GAME-CHANGING AR VR AND WEARABLE INNOVATIONS AT JUNE 9 th PRESS CONFERENCE
Latest in Eye Display, Image Recognition and Augmented Reality training to be spotlighted; Public Voting Opens for Auggie Awards
Augmented World Expo (AWE) is pleased to announce the initial roster of participants in its press conference being held during the second day of the conference on June 9, 2015 from 9-10 AM PST. The press conference is set to host a number of product reveals from major players in the virtual and augmented reality space.
AWE takes place at the Santa Clara Convention Center. The theme of this year’s show is “Superpowers to the People”, showcasing how AR, VR, wearable and IoT technology can grant a wide range of real world superpowers to anyone. The press conference will take place in Hall B. Press conference participants includes Optinvent, Catchoom and ScopeAR:

All three of these companies will also be exhibiting at Augmented World Expo. Additional press conference participants will be announced within the next few weeks.
“We received very positive feedback about last year’s roster of transformative announcements at our press conference,” said Ori Inbar, co-founder of AugmentedReality.org, the non-profit organization behind Augmented World Expo. “This year we will once again blow people away, and our show theme of ‘Superpowers to the People’ resonates with all audiences and is already generating huge buzz and anticipation.”
In addition, Augmented World Expo has also unveiled the first round of speakers who will participate in the virtual reality (VR) track new to the event this year thanks to a previously announced partnership with UploadVR. Joining over 200 participating companies already booked for the conference and expo include Eric Romo, CEO of AltSpace, Ebbe Altberg, CEO of Linden Labs, James Blaha, CEO of Vivid Vision and Tony Parisi, Founder of Third Eye.
The VR track will explore various topics around virtual reality including investing in this space with Dylan Flinn of Rothenberg Ventures, Alex Taussig of Highland Capital and Nabeel Hyatt of Spark Capital. Other topics including medicine in virtual reality, the social impact of VR and a look at different types of VR content.
Leading up to the event, Augmented World Expo has opened up public voting of its annual Auggie Awards. The Auggie Awards search for the best-of-the-best in augmented reality (AR). This year over 100 submissions were entered to be considered for one of ten categories including best smart glasses and best AR campaign. Voting has now been open to the public to help select the winners and will remain open until May 31, 2015. The winners of the Auggie Awards will be announced at the Augmented World Expo on Day 2 selected by a panel of judges.
