Red Funnel secure Water Refund of £54,000
The Ferry Operator Red Funnel has reported savings on water charges in excess of £36,000 per annum and has gained a water charge refund of £54,000. Savings were made following a full audit of water charges for all terminals and offices in Southampton and on the Isle of Wight.
Red Funnel was founded in 1861 as the Southampton Isle of Wight and South of England Royal Mail Steam Packet Company Limited. 150 years later they remain the original cross Solent ferry operator carrying more than 3 million people and 600,000 vehicles a year. Today they employ over 400 people with other business activities extending into UK holidays and freight services.
An initial analysis of their water costs and usage highlighted numerous issues that needed further investigation. Extensive investigations across their 5 sites confirmed overcharging on fixed and volumetric charges in addition to excessive consumption levels for the facilities served.
Correction of all supply charges resulted in annual savings in excess of £36,000. The total refund negotiated was £54,000.
Operations Director for Red Funnel Ferries, Murray Carter, commented on the successful initiative; ‘We are naturally delighted with the savings which have been delivered by Water Audit Services. The quality and professionalism of their work was of the highest level and I would certainly recommend their services to anyone.’
A full water audit will identify excessive water consumption, overcharging and leaks. Substantial refunds and savings are achievable and with no cost to the company involved.
Red Funnel tasked a national company Water Audit Services Ltd, to conduct their full audit. Water Audit Services state that 75% of their clients’ water charges have proven to be incorrect. It is a no lose proposition however, no savings – no fee. Services include bill validation, water management, and reporting, leakage detection and rain water harvesting, . www.waterauditservices.co.uk
