Murray Hill & New Providence, New Jersey, U.S., June 20, 2012 – With one session at the Linde North America Technical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, one welding distributor came away with enough information to help increase his customers’ bottom line and workplace safety.

Victor Fuhrman, vice president of sales and marketing for AWISCO, a Maspeth,New York, supplier of welding and cutting gases and equipment, spent two days at the Center where he had hands-on experience with various welding equipment and shielding gases, as well as classroom discussions on technology and applications.

“This was my first trip to the tech center and I was very impressed with the facility, the welding labs and the classrooms,” Fuhrman said. “The demonstrations and classes allowed us to compare the traditional high percentage helium mixtures with the new lower percentage helium CRONIGON® mixtures and see firsthand the high quality welds that can be achieved with CRONIGON mixtures for welding stainless steel. This is critical to our customers, who are faced with a worldwide shortage of helium and reduced allocations in theU.S., and are concerned about both supply and rising costs. We can now insure an uninterrupted supply of premium shielding gas to our stainless steel customers.”

At theTechnicalCenter, Fuhrman was also introduced to Linde MISON® shielding gases. “I found that these mixtures address three major concerns that our customers are expressing: They want quality welds, high production and, of course, the safest possible work environment for their welders. MISON gases contain a small percentage of nitric oxide, which virtually eliminates the production of ozone in the welding arc. This means high quality, greater production, a greener work place and satisfied customers.”

Fuhrman went back to his Maspeth facility with the determination to make some changes to AWISCO’s recently competed specialty gases lab. “AWISCO is well known for its reputation as a premium supplier/partner to the construction, demolition and fabrication industries. Our new high purity and spec gas lab has allowed us to expand into the laboratory, technical, scientific, food service and medical markets. One of the greatest takeaways from the training was that our new spec gas lab needs to be upgraded to allow us to mix the very precise CRONIGON and MISON mixtures. We are already working on the upgrade and expect to be ready to make these later in the year.”

Bob VanKirk, head of key customers and distributors, Linde North America, said, “We are very proud to have AWISCO as a member of the Linde Platinum Partner Program, which is designed to create a true partnership between Linde and independent gas and welding distributors. In addition toLindesupplying AWISCO with gas products, the two companies work together on marketing and technical training programs.”

“Being a Platinum Partner means AWISCO can rely on Linde’s technical expertise and share branding with a name that stands for worldwide quality and a tradition of excellence,” Fuhrman added.
