Lindex takes further steps in its commitment to letting kids be kids by launching its new concept Kids Performance Wear and enters the premium segment with innovative functional outerwear. The innovative garments, which are constructed with groundbreaking kinetic design, have a special focus on play, movement and longevity.

‘Creating clothes that are made for play is a given and letting kids be kids is something we have top of mind throughout the design process. By using kinetic design in the construction of our new collection we have been able to design for movement in a totally new and innovative way and challenge the traditional way of garment construction,’ says Carolina Vilca, Design & Buying Manager Kidswear at Lindex.

Lindex’s new high abrasion-resistant collection, Kids Performance Wear, is constructed with kinetic design which places movement at the centre, ensuring that each piece follows the natural movement of the body, enhancing both comfort and performance. The fashion company has incorporated several smart functions as part of the design like pre-bent knees, a drop seat function and extendable sleeves and legs. Lindex has also put the collections durability to the test making it the fashion company’s most durable kids’ outerwear ever.

‘In developing this collection, we worked closely with our customers, conducting thorough research and collaborating with over 1,000 consumers and 200 preschool teachers, and most importantly, the kids themselves, our test pilots. We have created garments with a special focus on durability to withstand rough play, wear and tear, and outdoor adventures, which our great test results really are a proof of. These garments are adjustable to accommodate growing kids but can also be passed on and be used by more children over time,’ says Carolina Vilca.

The collection includes a snowsuit, shell set, and layers like a lightweight padded jacket and fleece jacket. The smart zip-in feature allows the jackets to be combined into insulating layers, making it easy to adjust warmth and suitable for year-round wear.

Lindex’s Kids Performance Wear test results and methods:

Waterproof test method: ISO 811 (mm) 1
>12 000

Breathability test method (water vapour permeability): ISO 15496 (g/m2/24h) 2
>5 000

Tear strength test method: ISO 13937-2 3
≥75N in Warp
≥70N in Weft

Abrasion test method: EN 530, sandpaper grit 100, 12 kPa weight 4
≥ 60 000

Thermal resistance test method: ISO 11092 5
≥ 0,6m2 ∙K/W
6 tog

1 The fabric withstands over 12 000 mm of water pressure, making it highly waterproof and effective in heavy rainfall.

2 The fabric allows over 5 000 grams of water vapor per square meter in 24 hours, ensuring breathability and aiding sweat evaporation for comfort.

3 The fabric is strong and resistant to tearing. It can handle at least 75 Newtons of force in one direction (warp) and 70 Newtons in the other direction (weft), ensuring durability.

4 This fabric has been tested to withstand over 60,000 rubs with sandpaper under a pressure of 12 kilopascals (kPa), showing that it is highly resistant to wear and tear.

5 The fabric has a thermal resistance rating of 0.6 m²∙K/W, equivalent to a 6 tog rating. This means it provides good insulation and help keep the wearer warm in cold conditions.
