Lindex opens its 300 th store A milestone has been reached in the history of the Lindex Group when Lindex today opens its 300 th store. The store is located in the city of Recklinghausen in the Federal State of Nordrhein-Westfalen in Germany. The city has around 130,000 inhabitants and is both a commercial and an industrial city. The retail clothing market in Recklinghausen has a catchment area that also stretches outside the city, which totals around 160,000 people. Following the opening of the store in Recklinghausen, Lindex has around 170 staff in Germany. The organisation in Germany has been gradually expanded and strengthened. The current organisation has extensive experience of German retail operations. A very strong rate of expansion has characterised Lindex during the 1990s. Over the past decade, Lindex has opened some 140 new stores on its four sales markets - Sweden, Norway, Finland and Germany. The store opening today is the Lindex Group's 12 th store in Germany. "In the long term, the rapid rate of expansion will contribute to raising the Lindex Group's market share and strengthening its profitability. This is partly because increased purchasing volumes provide an opportunity for obtaining lower purchasing prices and that an increasing number of stores provide for a higher sales volume," says Hans Johansson, President and CEO of Lindex, in a comment.
