Lindex opens large store in Berlin

Lindex expands its investment in the German market and opens a large store in the most fashionable street in Berlin Lindex, which is a leading retail clothing chain in the Nordic countries, opens a large store on Kurfürstendamm in Berlin on 24 November. The store signals the start of Lindex's investment in stores in an international big city environment. The Berlin store will be the thirty-first Lindex store in Germany, and the first outside the Nordrhein-Westfalen region. The expansion in Germany will continue and 10-15 new stores will open every year. Establishment will mainly be made in cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants. The stores will be located both in the Berlin region and south of Nordrhein- Westfalen. Lindex is also continuing its expansion in its other markets in the Nordic countries, Sweden, Norway and Finland with a total of 15-20 new stores per annum. "Our expansion strategy is very clear," says Hans Johansson, President and CEO of Lindex. "We will open additional stores in prime locations in cities with significant purchasing power. Larger store areas, as in Berlin, provide us with improved opportunities for displaying our merchandise and offering our customers even better service." Lindex's sales for the 1999/2000 financial year amounted to SEK 4.114M which is an increase of 14 per cent compared with the previous year.
