Lindex opens purchasing offices in India and South Korea Lindex has decided to establish an additional two purchasing offices - in New Delhi, India, and in Seoul, South Korea. Thus, Lindex will have a permanent presence on six large purchasing markets outside the Nordic countries. Lindex already has purchasing offices in Hong Kong, Dhaka in Bangladesh, Istanbul in Turkey, and in London. The offices in New Delhi and Seoul will start operations early this autumn. "Over the past seven years, our purchases direct from the manufacturer have increased from 30 per cent of our product range to nearly 90 per cent which has significantly effected our profitability," says Hans Johansson, President of Lindex. "The direct purchases provide us with higher margins. They give us an opportunity for quality control at the source and make it easier for us to monitor how the suppliers are complying with our Code of Conduct. The staff in the purchasing offices are also able to initiate environment-improving projects on collaboration with the suppliers." "The local presence also gives us faster signals regarding, for example, price changes on export quota. Flexibility increases. With purchasing offices on several different markets we are rapidly able to rearrange production from one country to another, when that is appropriate for price or quality reasons, and to co-ordinate production between different product segments and different countries," says Hans Johansson."
