Lindex switches to biofuels for all ocean freight

All Lindex ocean freight will be decarbonised when the fashion company now switches to using biofuels. Lindex is one of the first to take this step, which is an important part of the fashion company's work towards its climate goals.

“Ocean transport accounts for a significant part of the global CO2 emissions and for us at Lindex, it is important to do what we can to have a positive impact. Switching to biofuels for all our ocean freight, was therefore a natural step for us and in our work to achieve our climate goal – to reduce the CO2 emissions throughout our value chain by 50 percent by 2030. We are one of the first players to take this step and hope to inspire others to do the same, so that we together can reduce the total climate impact from the world's ocean transport”, says Johan Engen, Director of Logistics at Lindex.

Almost 90 percent of all Lindex’s goods are transported by boat and the use of a sustainable fuel alternative as biofuel, is an important part of reducing the environmental impact of shipping and reducing the climate footprint. Lindex has chosen DHL Global Forwarding’s GoGreen Plus service that provides biofuels produced from residual waste from the food industry and the paper industry. In addition to the fact that the use of biofuels reduces CO2 emissions, it also has several other environmental benefits, such as the elimination of sulphur.

To reduce the environmental impact of the ocean freight, the use of biofuels is important and with our service, we make it easy for our customers to reduce their carbon footprint. We are very happy that Lindex, as one of the first customers globally, has chosen our service and thereby are decarbonising their entire ocean freight shipments”, says Dominique von Orelli, Global Head of Ocean Freight, DHL Global Forwarding.
