’WE Women by Lindex’ creates increased gender equality in supply chain
For Lindex, women are always in focus and women also have a vital role in the fashion company’s entire value chain. Lindex works in many ways to empower women, where ‘WE Women by Lindex’ is one of many initiatives.
With the ‘WE Women by Lindex’ program, Lindex takes a stand for gender equality and to create inclusive workplaces in the fashion company’s global supply chain, as well as giving women the same opportunities as men to competence development. Through the program, the level of gender-issues awareness and knowledge is raised among the supplier’s management teams, with a special focus on women’s health and security, and how they can work to increase the share of women within leadership positions and closing the wage gaps.
“We want all women throughout our value chain to be able to fulfill their full potential. Creating inclusive and equal workplaces is a prerequisite and that is why we run the program 'We women by Lindex' in our supply chain. Through dedicated work together with our suppliers, we have achieved great results, but this is just the beginning of our journey and there is still a lot to do. To scale up and reach even more women, we therefore invite more key players in the fashion industry to take part in the We women program, so that we together can pursue the issue of equal opportunities”, says Anna-Karin Dahlberg, Head of Sustainability at Lindex.
‘WE Women by Lindex’ started as a project in 2017 by Lindex in collaboration with GIZ. So far, the project has reached more than 70 000 women across Lindex global supply chain in Bangladesh, India and Myanmar. The fashion company’s goal is that by 2025, the suppliers who stand for 80 per cent of Lindex’s production have completed the ‘WE Women by Lindex’ program and working actively with gender equality.
