Linxon has been selected by Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to undertake the development of the 380/230 kV Amiral Bulk Supply Point (BSP) in the Jubail area, a contract worth 360 million Saudi Riyals.

This project aims to develop the generation interconnection and power supply plan for the Amiral project, located on Saudi Arabia’s east coast in Jubail.

The new substation is crucial for the development of the generation interconnection and power supply plan for the project. Amiral, a petrochemical complex, represents an investment of $11 billion to produce 1 million tons/year of polyethylene and 1,65 million tons/year of ethylene with commercial operation planned for 2027.

“This project is another outstanding example of our ongoing partnership with Saudi Electricity Company and our commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. Linxon is proud to contribute to the sustainable development ambitions of the Kingdom by providing reliable energy infrastructure,” said Hassan Merhi, Managing Director for Linxon Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

Linxon’s contract encompasses design, engineering, material procurement, civil construction, installation, testing and commissioning of a 380 kV GIS substation.  Linxon scope of supply includes a 380 kV GIS switchgear from Hitachi Energy Saudi Arabia, a 230 kV HGIS & 750 MVA transformer, and overhead transmission lines. The Amiral BSP substation will be supervised by SEC, with a completion timeline of 27 months.

Linxon has established its regional headquarters in Riyadh with operational offices throughout central, eastern and western regions of the Kingdom. In line with Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is taking pivotal steps towards achieving a diversified energy portfolio to ensure affordable and high-quality electricity services. Linxon is proud to contribute to these steps towards sustainability.
