Litmans Fabrics Celebrates 70 Year Anniversary
Fabrics specialist Litmans have come a long way since starting out in Nottingham’s famous lace market in 1946. The business is now recognised as one of the most innovative independent textile suppliers in the United Kingdom, serving over 10,000 customers worldwide through a network of distributors across 59 countries.
Offering one of the most comprehensive collection of fabrics that can be found anywhere, Litmans welcomes trade customers to their Nottingham showroom and via their online portal which showcase a 500+ strong range covering lace, key fabrics, tulle, lining, novelty fabrics, embroidery, with their warehouse carrying over 2 million metres of stock. High stock availability and dedicated staff ensure orders are fulfilled on the same day.
Now in 2016, the Litmans team are delighted to be celebrating their 70th year of business in the textile trade. “It’s been a tremendous journey for Litmans over the last 70 years,” comments Craig Sherwin, Managing Director of Litmans. “From humble beginnings, the business has grown into a strong, global business with regular trade exhibitions in London, Paris, Munich, New York, Sao Paolo and Milan. We’ve also been delighted in this special anniversary year to have been shortlisted for the prestigious UKFT UK Fashion and Textile Award. More recently the business has been focused on bringing Nottingham Lace back to the industry. Our first exclusive Nottingham laces have been designed and manufactured right here in Nottingham and will soon be available to buy Early 2017.”
With the wedding season well underway, brides are well served with Litmans’ extensive range of beautiful bridal fabrics and laces. The Litmans bridal collection features up to 100 patterns and some of the very latest fabrics, including the amazing transparent tulle, design 9334 available in Ivory, white, black and tan colours. This unique fabric is created by using an incredibly fine yarn that is split down to make a tulle so fine, it can barely be seen, creating a superbly sheer, invisible effect. Perfect for bridal and evening couture, dance and sports costumes, it achieves the effect and quality of silk tulle without the high price tag.
Litmans Bridal fabrics and accessories account for more than 20% of Litmans collection, and given the importance of the category, the business has recently launched in 2016, the Litmans Bridal Book, a must have for any designer or boutique in the bridal industry. Beautifully presented in a premium pewter binder, the Bridal Book is a professional, high quality book, packed full of inspiration for brides, mother of the bride, bridesmaids and flower girls with large swatches and detailed information of the bridal fabrics stocked by Litmans. Perfect for any shop or showroom to have on hand.
“The bridal industry continues to be an absolutely key focus for Litmans and over the last 10 years, we’ve established a dedicated bridal team to serve our trade customers. Highly experienced industry experts, they are available to attend meetings, arrange sampling, advise on stocks and discuss the latest products coming in.
