LITRE METER SUPPLIES FLOW METERS FOR INDUSTRIAL ROBOTICS
UK flowmeter specialist Litre Meter (www.litremeter.com) has supplied a large order of KEM helical screw positive displacement flow meters to a UK-based industrial automation specialist.
Litre Meter supplied 12 KEM SRZ40 flowmeters for an industrial robotics solutions specialist to measure the flow of PVC used in vehicle manufacturing. The meters need to be able to measure a flow range of 0.4 to 40 litres per minute at a viscosity of 3,000 mm2/s of material used to manufacture instrument and door panels.
KEM SRZ40 flowmeters are robust and accurate and are able to measure at pressures of up to 400 bar at temperatures of +150 degrees Celsius.
Wide measuring ranges that are largely independent of viscosity make these meters perfect for measuring liquids with viscosities of 30 up to 1000,000 mm²/s. The meters have a low pressure drop compared with other positive displacement meters and double pulse rate and reverse-flow detection is possible via carrier frequency pulse amplifiers.
Accuracy is ensured because the SRZ40 is not sensitive to pulsating flows.
The meters are safe and certificated EEx ia IIC T6 for zone 1. They are constructed from advanced corrosion-resistant materials and have abrasion-resistant bearings which produce low operating noise, making them both cost-effective for long-term continuous use and beneficial from a health and safety perspective.
Positive displacement flowmeters measure volumes of fluid flowing through them by counting repeatedly the filling and discharging of known fixed volumes. A typical positive displacement flowmeter has a chamber that obstructs the flow. Inside the chamber, a rotating/reciprocating mechanical unit is placed to create fixed-volume discrete parcels from the passing fluid. The helical screw principle of the KEM SRZ40 flowmeter uses two counter-rotating gears to form a continuous constant volume cavity.
“This is a perfect example of our versatility,” said Litre Meter CEO Charles Wemyss.
“Not only are these KEM meters robust and accurate, they are particularly suitable for epoxy resins, PVC and underbody sealants, anti-flutter materials, adhesives, polyurethane, polymers and sealants, in fact almost any material that you might find in an automated vehicle manufacturing process.”
