2 Nights Live… in the North

Concert goers are in for a real treat in the coming months as Welsh songstress Cerys Matthews pays a visit to the region to play two special concerts this autumn. Demand is expected to be high as tickets go on sale this week for her 2 Nights Live… in the North in Whitley Bay and York this November. Matthews achieved widespread popularity as the singer of the group Catatonia. With a string of hits singles including “Road Rage” and “Mulder and Scully” as well as number one albums, she firmly established herself as one of the country’s great vocal talents and songwriters. Welsh born and bred, Matthews went on to record the worldwide seminal hit duet “Baby its Cold Outside” with Tom Jones. Her solo career has since spawned three critically acclaimed solo albums, “Cookahoop”, “Never Said Goodbye” and, in 2009, “Don’t Look Down”, widely regarded by the media and fans as her best album to date. 2 Nights Live … in the North, brings Cerys’ intimate and largely acoustic show of songs spanning her career to Yorkshire and Tyneside. On 16th November the show comes to the Playhouse at Whitley Bay, followed on the 17th November by the Grand Opera House in York. "We are delighted that cerys has chosen to come the Grand Opera House. Ours is one of only two concerts she is doing in the north so it's a rare opportunity for her fans while she is in Yorkshire. We think it will be very popular so early booking is advisable." Lizzie Richards, General Manager Cerys Matthews will play the Grand Opera House York on Wednesday 17 November at 7.30pm To book telephone 0844 847 2322 or visit www.GrandOperaHouseYork.org.uk For more information please contact Celestine Dubruel, Press Officer, on 01904 678711 or email celestinedubruel@theambassadors.com
