The producers are calling on all fans attending that night to bring with them any original flags, banners, scarves, anything that may have been in the Ataturk that night. This is a great opportunity for fans who went to Istanbul to relive the events of The Greatest Final of them all. For fans who did not manage to go, it will be their opportunity to experience a unique night in football history. The producers have also some extra special surprise guests in store for Tuesday 25th, which promises to be one of the most unique nights in theatre land this, or any other year. Whether Istanbul has become a historical focal point or not, this night is all about celebrating Liverpool winning the best club trophy on earth for the fifth time. So becoming, one of an elite number of clubs who can now keep Ol’ Big Ears for good! One Night In Istanbul Writer – Nicky Allt: The first run of “One Night In Istanbul” went on to attract over 26,000 people in just ten days and became the fastest selling Liverpool play of all time. Throughout this time local footballing legends such as Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Rafa Benitez, Kenny Dalglish, Phil Neil, David Fairclough, and John Aldridge plus many more appeared on stage. It returns for summer 2010 to celebrate the fifth anniversary of that fateful night, returning to the Liverpool Empire for a two week run. Nicky has said it will probably not return to its home city till the sixth is won. So…. ONII will make its Irish debut in the all-new Grand Canal Theatre located in the heart of the Dublin Docklands. This uniquely purpose built theatre was designed by Daniel Libeskind and cost a staggering €80 million. It opens in March with performances by the Bolshoi Ballet with Swan Lake. One Night In Istanbul will run alongside some of the biggest names in theatre with shows coming directly from the West End and Broadway. This esteemed company includes hit shows such Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Hairspray and the Bolshoi. ONII is one of the first plays to grace the stage in this world-class theatre. And what’s it all about? The last word comes from Nicky Allt: “Fourteen years later and Scousers, Tommy Kelly and Gerry Edwards are in Istanbul hoping their heroes are going to bring ‘ol Big Ears’ back home. Their two sons, Jamie and Joseph tag along, wanting to witness their own little piece of footballing history. A bag of money reaches Liverpudlian hands, alerting two Turkish thieves and a sexy cleaner. Four Scousers, Hitlers Cufflinks and 90 minutes of fireworks is bound to cause trouble at the Mamara Hotel…One Night in Istanbul!’” Press Quotes "One of the most dramatic nights in sporting history has been immortalised in a new play - and the results are spectacular."
