Olde York's homage to New York

Report this content

The mean streets of 1950s New York are currently being resurrected by some of Yorkshire’s most talented young performers. Children aged 10-21 from Leeds, York, Huddersfield, Harrogate and Doncaster have arrived at the Grand Opera House in York to begin work on Guys and Dolls, this year’s Stage Experience project. For the next two weeks an ensemble of actors, singers, dancers and backstage crew will undertake the gruelling task of putting the whole show together under the guidance of a professional director and technical crew, ready for public performance at the Grand Opera House York from Thursday 5th until Saturday 7th August. Guys and Dolls tells the story of a group of small-time gamblers and the ladies in their lives. Featuring classic numbers such as Sit Down You’re Rocking The Boat, Luck Be A Lady Tonight and Take Back Your mink, the show brings to life the Broadway of the 1940s. Tickets are £13.50 and are available from the Grand Opera House Box Office on 0844 847 2322, www.grandoperahouseyork.org.uk ENDS For images, interviews and information, please contact Dean Feasby on 01904 678714.
