Contact Group, providers of school-home communications solutions, has added Reggie®, one of the world’s first mobile student registration apps to its product portfolio. The new app will enable teachers to take the register anytime, anywhere using their phone or iPad and to synchronise the data with the school’s Capita SIMS Management Information System, so safeguarding the welfare of students in their care. Contact Group has also partnered with GSD®, the visual communication agency that created and developed Reggie®.

Perfect for situations where teachers are out and about, Reggie® is ideal for use on school trips where staff are required to take the register at various times throughout the day; for PE teachers out on the field; and in emergency situations where students filing out into the playground need to be accounted for.  A portrait shot of each student included on the register sits alongside their name, making it easy for police or fire crews to identify missing children quickly and efficiently.  This particular feature is also ideal for supply teachers frequently duped at registration by students answering on behalf of their absent friends.

Commenting on the new solution, Edward Timpson MP, Minister for Children and Families, said, "The 12 month trial at Brine Leas School saved time for teachers and allowed them to get on and teach. It provided good and reliable information about students throughout the school so that teachers were able to pick-up on patterns of behaviour.”

Rob Oakes, Brine Leas School, Head of Creative Arts, said, “The app is particularly useful on trips as teachers can take the phone out and use it wherever and whenever they want.”

Reggie® integrates fully with Capita’s SIMS Management Information System and Contact Group’s school-home communications’ solutions. Should, for example, a student be registered absent, data sent from Reggie® to SIMs will automatically sync with Contact Group’s Truancy Call anti-truancy software, notifying parents via text about their child’s absence. If a poor internet connection prevents the app from synchronising with SIMs, data will be held on the teacher’s phone or iPad until a suitable 3G network is located.

Designed to meet Government standards of online security, Reggie® only works with registered devices and requires a secure log-on via username, password and school ID. Data transmission is fully SSL (secure sockets layer) encrypted. In the event that the device is lost, all the data can be erased remotely.

Prices for Reggie® start at £149pa for 1-3 users and includes free set-up, training and support. Reggie® is available on Apple iOS for iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad and Android devices.

The Reggie® app can be downloaded from the AppleStore and Google Play.
