Eileen Field joins EdisonLearning as Director of Achievement, Virtual and Blended Learning
Leading implementation of blended learning and virtual schools across the UK
EdisonLearning (www.edisonlearning.net), specialist in school improvement strategies and support, has appointed Eileen Field as Director of Achievement, Virtual and Blended Learning in the UK.
In her new role, Eileen will be responsible for implementing flipped, blended and virtual learning in schools across the UK, drawing knowledge and expertise from her US counterparts who currently run successful online high schools in South Carolina, Colorado and Georgia. Experience gained using blended learning to inspire high school drop outs to sit their diplomas will also be shared with the UK institutions.
Formerly employed as Headteacher of the UK’s first virtual school, Eileen and her team were instrumental in doubling attainment levels for its 1,200 learners aged between 11 and 16.

EdisonLearning has recently launched a blended learning pilot with three secondary schools in the UK. Teachers are using e-learning materials to create a ‘flipped’ classroom, where students are doing preparation work on a topic before covering it in class. Students have been able to take much more control of their learning, directing the teacher to areas where they need further explanation. Even though the pilot has only been running for a few weeks, one school has already seen remarkable progress, with students grasping concepts twice as fast as before.
