In a major deal worth over £2 million, Frog, provider of the UK’s leading learning platform, has acquired a 51% stake in i-education, the experts in games based revision and assessment and creators of ‘I am Learning’.

The contract, which puts the I am Learning assessment software at the heart of Frog’s learning platform, was finalised on Friday 26 October. The acquisition shows Frog’s long term commitment towards education and signals their move towards assessment in teaching and learning.

With this exciting development, features of the I am Learning assessment software will become an integral part of the Frog learning platform, benefiting over 12 million teachers and students worldwide.

Teachers will gain valuable insight into their students and have a greater understanding of how they actually learn. Detailed learner analytics will enable them to identify weaknesses, monitor progress and improve outcomes, creating a personalised learning experience for every child both in school and at home.

The acquisition of i-education is one of several recent steps Frog has taken towards further improving its already internationally acclaimed educational technology. These steps include the appointment of Alistair Smith as Education Director, to inform all product development for the UK and international markets. Alistair brings nearly 30 years’ experience of working in education and sport, where he has developed innovative approaches to learning, implemented systems that engage learners and written a number of award winning books.

Features of the I am Learning software will also be available across all of Malaysia’s 10,000 state schools after the Malaysian Ministry of Education (MOE) selected Frog to provide its learning platform to every school as part of the country’s ‘1Bestarinet Project’.

Commenting on the acquisition, Michael Wilkinson, Director of i-education, said, “We are really excited about becoming part of the Frog family and look forward to working closer with everyone on the team. We have some great opportunities ahead of us.”

Gareth Davies, Managing Director of Frog, says, “Assessment is a key focus for Frog at the moment and I am Learning is a vital part of our strategy going forward as we head towards a fully integrated assessment platform for our customers.”
