iansyst is celebrating its 30th anniversary at the TES Special Needs Exhibition, with a free assistive technology (AT) workshop on ‘Literacy Support Tools for All’ at 12-12.30, on  Saturday 12th October, the Village Green Exhibition Floor, lower ground level, Business Design Centre, London. Jackie Harber, AT Specialist at iansyst will host a live demonstration and discussion on the latest literacy support software and apps for tablets and mobile devices.

Jackie’s session will focus on reading and writing support in the classroom using text-to-speech software, Dictaphones, smart pens which record everything you write and hear and iPad and Android apps.

On stand P23, iansyst will also be demonstrating the latest literacy support software including version 4 of its CapturaTalk for Android™ an assistive technology application that allows learners of all ages and abilities to take a picture and convert it into digital text using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology and hear it read back aloud on Android mobile phones and tablet devices.

The software also includes a new speech recognition feature ideal for learners who prefer to convert their thoughts verbally into text.

Also new in version 4 is an audio tagging feature which helps with note taking by allowing learners to type notes and insert audio tags within the same document. There is also a transcription option which converts audio files or the spoken word into typed text which is great for transcribing recorded notes.

iansyst will also be showcasing its 2013 Assistive Technology Bundle which includes Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12 voice recognition and headset, ClaroRead SE text-to-speech software, ClaroIdeas mind mapping, SymPrint communication board, EB WordBanks software and VoxEnable voice control for key software products. iansyst is currently offering this £300 bundle at a special price of just £149 +VAT.

Visitors to the iansyst stand will also be able to see a demonstration of azzapt – a cloud service that enables individuals to store, create and open personalised accessible documents in their preferred format from any internet device. The azzapt service can be accessed via desktop computers, mobiles or tablets, providing automatically on demand information in alternative formats. Suitable for learners with SEN, or those who require reading support, azzapt provides text content whether it be in a larger font, coloured background, different font styles or as an audio version.

Visit stand P23 to speak with iansyst’s highly qualified assistive technology specialists and receive demos and expert advice on the company’s wide range of software, hardware and assistive technology solutions designed to help learners with dyslexia and other disabilities.

iansyst’s assistive technologies provide support for the 10% of learners in the UK with dyslexia and also help those with mild visual impairment or with English as their second language.
