Viglen retains its Number 1 value position on the £310m National Desktop and Notebook Agreement Framework

Viglen has retained its Number 1 value position on the  latest National Desktop and Notebook Agreement (NDNA) Framework, within Lot 1 (Desktop PCs) and Lot 3 (One Stop Shop in partnership with Toshiba) enabling higher and further education establishments throughout Great Britain to buy its IT products and services directly, quickly and efficiently. The estimated value of the framework over the potential four year term is £310m, with Lot 1 worth an expected £220m, Lot 2 (Notebook PCs) £75m and Lot 3 £15m.

Formed in 2009 and supported by the Universities and Colleges Information Systems Association, the NDNA allows all Consortia-affiliated universities and colleges of further and higher education, together with their Research Councils, to take advantage of a wide range of cost and service benefits offered by a small number of pre-approved suppliers.

The framework is split into three lots and assessed through a rigorous OJEU (Official Journal of the European Union) tender process. Viglen’s successful bid came out as ‘best value overall’ in the evaluation for Lot 1 as a manufacturer and Lot 3 as the lead partner with long-term partner Toshiba, for whom Viglen is an authorised service provider.

Importantly, with the exception of specialist DSA requirements, Viglen has not nominated any resellers for its products. The benefit to customers is that they will have a direct relationship with Viglen that delivers a flexible and responsive service without having to pay additional margins added by resellers.

Commenting on Viglen’s inclusion in the framework, chief executive Bordan Tkachuk said: “In the previous NDNA framework Viglen was also awarded best value supplier for Lots 1 and 3.  To have repeated this feat in today’s highly competitive environment and up against major global multinational players further demonstrates that we are continuing to deliver both value and performance.’’

He continued “We have a long standing commitment to the education sector and have been a leading supplier for many years. This framework goes a long way to exemplify our credentials as a UK manufacturer for client devices and provider of related services and give customers satisfaction, confidence and peace of mind that they are receiving best value.

“Our best value scoring in the tender process shows that UK manufacturing and services can compete on the world stage and provide better overall value for quality equipment, pricing and services than global multinationals.”

Viglen partnered with Iansyst, the UK's leading assistive technology (AT) and disability services supplier, to deal specifically with Disability Students’ Allowance grant-funded business as part of its ‘one-stop’ solution and is the only UK manufacturer to offer this facility.

The NDNA agreement is on a 3 (+1) year framework with the current contract running from 1 August 2013 until 31 July 2016, with a permitted extension to 31 July 2017.

The six regional consortia affiliated to the NDNA framework are Advanced Procurement for Scottish Universities and Colleges, the London Universities Purchasing Consortium, Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium, Higher Education Purchasing Consortium Wales, North Eastern Universities Purchasing Consortium and North Western Universities Purchasing Consortium.

Already strong in education,  Viglen is also on several national HE frameworks delivering  complete end-to-end ICT solutions from infrastructure to end user computing, including the London Universities Purchasing Consortium-led National Desktop and Notebook Agreement (NDNA), the North Eastern Universities Purchasing Consortium-led agreement for the Supply, Installation, Maintenance of Networking Equipment and Consultancy for Converged Solutions and the Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium-led National Server and Storage Agreement, Software Licensing Resellers Agreement and National Maintenance Agreement.
