The Expert: Many air purifiers are completely useless

An article in Dagens PS interviewed Anders Hedström, who has worked with air purification for most of his working life. Most recently as global head of air quality at Swedish Camfil AB, which is a world leader in filters for air purification. Today, he is an advisor to the WHO's Collaboration Center at Queensland University of Technology and works, among other things, to develop a new standard for air purification, and also as a consultant to the aviation industry regarding air purification.

He believes that many air purifiers are largely ineffective. It is required, among other things, that the air purifier contains a HEPA filter of at least class H 13. Then it must also contain a carbon filter to be able to clean emissions and more.

“There are three or four air purifiers that are good. Swedish Blueair is one. Camfil City M, Qleanair and for example IQ Air. But clearly the best is Livsdal, which contains all the necessary filters and is also built of wood. I have not seen anyone who is better. They have larger filter surfaces than others and most carbon filters of all.”

“In the air purifier industry, we are seeing very high growth rates. Before Corona, growth of 12-15 percent was expected in two years, now figures of 40-60 percent are already a reality for the next two years. ”
