It’s never too late to learn something new, proves the new owner of the ZipYard on Glasgow’s longest street, the Great Western Road.

After working in the education sector for 19 years, former primary school teacher Claire McGibbon from Dalgety Bay in Fife decided to embark on a new challenge and breathe a new lease of life into the ZipYard in Glasgow, which offers top quality garment alterations and repairs.

“I’m always on the lookout for a new adventure” said Claire, “so when I heard that the Centre was up for sale in Glasgow I thought this was my opportunity to take the reigns and just go for it”

“My fiancé James and I are excited about moving to Glasgow. It’s a city we both love and know well so to have the opportunity to move there to run my own business is something we are looking forward to.

The ZipYard concept is remarkable and I think it is something which fulfils the need of the community. I am wholly committed to making this a success. I plan to build on the customer-base that already exists and continue to give them the top quality service that they are used to.”

The ZipYard offers a wide range of alteration and tailoring services, all done on site by trained professionals in a clean, purpose-built environment. There are two on-site fitting rooms where the ZipYard’s four trained seamstresses can pin up alterations in situ and provide evening appointments.

From dress re-styling and taking in or letting out garments to formal wear alterations, The ZipYard can do it all. There is also a 1-hour express service for zips, hems and minor repairs. Shoppers can buy a garment in the morning and have the alterations done in time to wear the outfit that evening.

The ZipYard Glasgow opens six days a week. From Monday to Saturday the hours are 9.00am to 6.00pm and on Thursday the Centre is open from 9.00am to 7.00pm. To contact the ZipYard telephone: 0141 2374143
