Garment tailoring and repair service and Mayor of Bournemouth appeal for public to donate unwanted clothes

Bournemouth’s first specialist clothing alterations and tailoring centre, the ZipYard, has teamed up with  Mayor Councillor Dr Rodney Cooper and The Bournemouth Food and Clothes Bank to encourage customers to donate an item of warm clothing for the homeless this winter.  Cllr Cooper will be visiting the ZipYard to catch up on the appeal's progress at 12:00 on 14 January.

In return for their generosity, customers will be given a voucher for £5 off the cost of repairs or alterations at the ZipYard in Winton Road and entered into a prize draw to win gifts including a 32 inch LCD TV and 6 months free worth of dry cleaning at the ZipYard.

Kevin Old, Director of The ZipYard Bournemouth says he will make sure the clothes gets to the people that need them and if an item of clothing a customer donates needs repairing, the ZipYard will carry out the work for free.

Said Kevin:  “The Bournemouth Food and Clothes bank goes above and beyond to help people on the streets. The ZipYard is proud to support their cause and just hope that people will dig deep and think of those in need. We have trained seamstresses on site here at The ZipYard so it is easy for us to quickly mend any clothes needing a repair - too many garments are thrown away just because they need mending.”

Drop your donations to The ZipYard Bournemouth, 342 Wimborne Road, Winton, Bournemouth, BH9 2HH

The ZipYard Bournemouth opens six days a week. From Monday to Friday the hours are 9.00am to 5.30pm and on Saturday the centre is open from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
