Eighteen brand new affordable homes have been made available to rent in Folkestone by Kent and Surrey-based housing association, Accent Peerless Ltd. The £2.2 million investment is the association’s first project in partnership with Shepway District Council.

With demand for affordable social housing on the rise, Accent Peerless has made all eighteen of the units available at an affordable rent, which is typically a more affordable option than renting in the private market. Located in Rendezvous Street in the centre of Folkestone, the development comprises 7 one-bedroom and 11 two-bedroom apartments. All the units are extremely spacious with good-sized bedrooms and there are excellent transport links and convenient access to shops and local amenities. Adrian Hammond, Housing Strategy Manager at Shepway District Council, said: “We are delighted that Accent Peerless has provided these affordable new homes. They are of extremely high quality and the finish is superb. They are already generating a lot of interest.” Ian Taylor, New Development Manager at Accent Peerless said: “The interest in such developments is always high. We have been working closely with Shepway District Council to ensure these units are let to the people who need them most.” He added: “Even once such developments are occupied, our work continues. We pride ourselves on being a responsible landlord and we work hard to involve our residents. It is important they have their say and are involved in housing issues which affect them. Together we can deliver meaningful and positive improvements to our service, the community and people’s lives.”
