Commercial Lawyer joins Thomas Eggar's Tech Team

Thomas Eggar has started the New Year with a new Partner, following the appointment of commercial lawyer, Kim Walker. She brings a wealth of legal expertise to the practice generally and more specifically to the Technology Team.

Qualifying as a solicitor in 1987, Kim has experience working with business concerns as an in-house lawyer and with regional law firms in the South of England. Before joining Thomas Eggar, she worked for Paris Smith in Southampton, where she became a Partner in 2009. Kim’s client base is wide and varied and includes technology start-ups, digital service providers, advertising and marketing agencies, precision engineers, electronic design and manufacturing businesses. Most recently, Kim has been involved in the negotiation of patent licence, product evaluation and licensed manufacturing agreements, software development and data use agreements and software as a service framework agreements. Speaking of her appointment, Kim commented: “I am delighted to be joining a practice with such a good reputation and my very practical approach to finding effective legal solutions will hopefully make a positive impact. I have a wide experience of legal issues and can provide specialist advice on the identification, management, exploitation and protection of intellectual property rights as well as the structuring, drafting and negotiating IP transactions and licensing agreements.” Kim also has considerable experience in providing due diligence support on corporate transactions involving technology businesses and e-commerce and data protection compliance. Kim often give talks on matters of current interest in IP and technology law to clients and business networking organisations and contributes comment to business publications.
