Dad’s Army show tickets up for grabs

Throughout May, Fareham Shopping Centre is celebrating 70 years since the formation of the Home Guard by encouraging shoppers to ‘wage war against waste.’ Shoppers can learn about waste, water and energy-saving measures that were commonplace during World War Two and discover how modern-day equivalents can help the environment and save money today. Centre Director, Pam Marsden, explains: “People endured many hardships and made a huge effort to economise in the 1940’s - and they just got on with it. It would be great if we could all make a fraction of the effort that our grandparents made - collectively we can make a huge difference to the environment.” Shoppers can learn all about the Home Guard and pick up some ‘green’ wartime tips by visiting a display in the Centre’s Green Zone, outside Store Twenty One. Or they can go online at www.farehamshopping.com. By making a pledge to recycle kitchen scraps, grow their own vegetables, or make one of the many other promises available to choose from, they will be entered into a draw. The closing date for entries is Sunday 23rd May and two winners will each receive two tickets to see Dad’s Army Marches On at Fareham’s Ferneham Hall on 27, 28th or 29th May. Plus, entrants can also download a ‘2for1 on Hot Meals’ voucher to spend at Café Giardino. Pam adds: “It will take no more than five minutes to go online and make a pledge and many of the green promises you can choose from will save shoppers money as well as help the environment. The lessons learnt from the war superbly illustrate how easy it could be to implement waste-saving measures in modern day society.” -Ends- Words: 297 Notes to the Editor For further editorial information about Fareham Shopping Centre please contact Colin Salt at Logical Creative Marketing on 0845 345 6969 or email colins@lcm.co.uk To contact the Centre Director, call Pam Marsden on 01329 822506.
