Fareham Shopping Centre has received an award for excellence in the ‘South and South East In Bloom’ competition which is organised by The Royal Horticultural Society.

The Centre’s award recognises its support to the ‘Fareham In Bloom’ competition over the past year and its contribution to keeping the outdoor areas surrounding the Centre attractive and welcoming for residents and visitors. Centre Director, Pam Marsden, was thrilled to accept the award on behalf of the Centre and commented: “Fareham and the Shopping Centre work hard to keep the town looking good and it really does benefit us all. It makes the town a much more pleasant place to live and work; it develops community spirit, local pride and brings visitors to the area.” Also receiving special recognition at the awards ceremony at Ferneham Hall last week were the winners of the Centre’s Fareham In Bloom Colouring Competition. Budding young artists, Meadow (4) from Starfish Nursery in Fareham, Lyle (7) from St Anthony’s RC School in Titchfield and Holly (9) from Ranvilles Junior School in Fareham entered the competition in August and won themselves a bundle of art equipment from The Works. Lyle and Holly both attended the ceremony to receive special certificates to mark their contributions. Pam added: “We were pleased to be able to promote the ‘Fareham in Bloom’ campaign by way of this competition which received hundreds of entries. I hope it will encourage the younger members of our community to think about the campaign’s values and participate in making Fareham a better place to live.” -Ends- Words: 267
