Socially-responsible lender, South Coast Moneyline, has given a cash boost to help Eastleigh firemen Andy Piper, Matt McLen-Howells and Tom Marshall to complete a charity challenge, which has so far raised nearly £3,000 for Help the Heroes and the Fire Fighters charity. The three men scaled the three highest peaks of England, Scotland and Wales, and cycled the 500 miles between them, all in just 6 days.

The ethical loans company, which works closely with Eastleigh Borough Council to provide low cost Home Trust Loans to house owners who require essential home improvements, heard about the firemen’s endeavours online and felt compelled to help; the company donated £200 to the trio’s cause. South Coast Moneyline’s CEO, Simon Frost, explains: “When we read about what these guys were up to, we were so amazed at the scale of the challenge they’d set themselves, we felt we had to help. Climbing 3,000 metres and cycling 500 miles is no mean feat. Our not-for-profit organisation and the loan product we provide are all about helping people and improving lives. We are proud of what we do, but we are in awe of the effort that these people have gone to help others. I take my hat off to them.” South Coast Moneyline works with 15 local councils across the South, enabling them to offer home improvements assistance to residents. Simon adds: “Many people are unaware that help is at hand. People don’t have to suffer with sub-standard housing when there is plenty of affordable finance readily available. I urge anyone whose house is in a poor state of repair, or who struggles to keep it warm in the winter, to contact their local authority to find out how they, and we, can help.” For more details about the Home Trust Loan, visit www.hometrustloan.org.uk, or contact Eastleigh Borough Council. -Ends- Word Count: 305
