St John’s College in Southsea had a Fruity Friday on 15th October.

All the Pre-Prep children, aged 3-7, thoroughly enjoyed a fun filled morning of fruity activities, including cutting fruit and making multi-coloured fruit kebabs, apple printing, making a fruit rainbow and mixing fruits to make delicious smoothies. They looked at lots of different exotic fruits, read fruity stories and talked about healthy eating and the importance of fruit in their diet. Head of Pre-Prep, Claire Davies, said, ‘This was a fantastic morning to highlight the importance of fruit in our diet. The children really enjoyed getting involved and trying out new activities and tastes. We were all quite excited to try the exotic looking Dragon Fruit, although we felt a bit let down by its unadventurous taste. It was not what we were expecting! A big thank you must go to Waitrose in Southsea who kindly donated lots of the fruit for us.’ The Pre-Prep department will be hosting a variety of themed mornings throughout the School year aimed at promoting hands-on active learning and experiences. The next event is a Diwali celebration morning on Friday 5th November.
