Wrapping paper, pet food and over 80 big-name stores equal an evening of Christmas magic

Fareham Shopping Centre is launching their season of Late Night Shopping this Thursday with many stores open until 8pm. As well as a vast array of shops brimming with Christmas gift ideas, the Centre is planning two exciting competitions to get the festivities going and to raise money and supplies for The RSPCA’s Stubbington Ark. The Christmas Wrap Race gives shoppers the chance to win £20 worth of store vouchers, by taking part in a frantic race against the clock. Armed with wrapping paper, tape, ribbon and scissors, contestants will have two minutes to wrap one of a collection of strange-shaped objects loaned from stores in the Centre such as Thomas Cook, Bonmarché and Shoe Zone. The Mayor will open the event and kick off the first round of wrapping at 6pm, outside The Body Shop. Donations towards The RSPCA’s Stubbington Ark will be gratefully received from contestants and onlookers. The Centre is also on a mission to collect enough cans of pet food to keep The Ark in good supply over the winter months. Young shoppers have been invited to buy and wrap a can of pet food and bring it into the Centre during Late Night Shopping on Thursday 25th November from 5:30pm. The entries will be judged by the Mayor at 6:15pm and five of the best ‘wrappers’ will win a ‘Safehaven’ Sponsorship and tour of The RSPCA’s Stubbington Ark. All cans will be donated to The Ark and a container opposite Millets will continue to receive donations right up to Christmas Eve – so those who can’t attend on Thursday 25th November can still donate pet food to a very worthy cause. Centre Director, Pam Marsden, is delighted with the plans to help a worthwhile local charity and says: “The Stubbington Ark relies on campaigns such as ours to stay operational and I’m so pleased to be able to help. And it’s nice to have a little bit of fun at the same time. I look forward to seeing as many shoppers as possible on Thursday – it promises to be quite a spectacle.” Further information about the Centre’s stores, exciting events, competitions and festive opening times can be found at www.farehamshopping.com or by picking up a free Christmas booklet from around the Centre.
