Vehicle donated to Sailors’ Society to support seafarers in Felixstowe

A minibus has been generously donated by shipping agency Zodiac Maritime, to aid the work of the Sailors’ Society in Felixstowe. The international charity works to support seafarers, often away from home for months at a time, by providing them with transport, accommodation and if necessary, financial support, when they arrive in national and international ports. The new minibus will provide them with quick and easy access to telephones and other essential amenities in the Felixstowe area. Jan Webber, Director of Fundraising and Marketing for the Sailors’ Society said: “Many seafarers spend up to a year at sea and their families rely on their income to survive. Time on land is usually limited due to quick turnaround schedules so the bus will provide a link for them to go and make phone calls home and to stock up on supplies.” She added: “We are sure the minibus will benefit Felixstowe Port as well as the surrounding communities. As assign of the charity’s appreciation we are pleased to display the Zodiac Maritime logo on the vehicle.” Mark Rawson, Quality, Safety and Environmental Manager for Zodiac Maritime said: “We are delighted to support such a worthwhile cause as the Sailors’ Society. We recognise the work the charity puts in to making life much more bearable for seafarers.” Any companies interested in supporting the Sailors’ Society with sponsorship of minibuses in ports all over the world or in other sponsorship opportunities, please contact Helen Alexander, Trust and Corporate Fundraiser on +44 023 8051 5959 or email halexander@sailors-society.org.
