New opening times entice gallery visitors

aspex, Portsmouth’s leading contemporary art gallery, has announced new opening times, allowing art lovers and new visitors more opportunity to view an exciting new programme of events. Director of the gallery Joanne Bushnell explained: “The new daily opening hours of 11am-4pm allow visitors the chance to explore the gallery at their leisure. We want to promote the enjoyment and understanding of contemporary visual art for all ages and the more consistent opening hours reflect this.” Situated at Gunwharf Quays, aspex gallery is committed to exhibiting and supporting the work of artists who seek to push boundaries - producing new, exciting and innovative art. First to be shown from the autumn/winter programme is a new installatiion entitled Witch Hunt, by internationally acclaimed Roma artist Delaine Le Bas. Following this are a range of diverse shows including: Emergency4 - aspex’s biennial open submission exhibition featuring nine international artists selected by a distinguished judging panel, Parade - drawings and sculpture by Royal College of Art graduate Rob Eagle, and Must Have….a smaller footprint - aspex’s Christmas selling exhibition dedicated to all things eco. Joanne Bushnell added: “We are really excited about our new programme, featuring the work of some incredibly talented and thought-provoking artists. Each exhibition is very different and is complemented by talks, screenings and workshops so there will be something new to see or do each time our visitors drop in. With this wide range of exhibitions and activities we hope to attract art lovers and first time gallery visitors alike.
