Specialist oat ingredients company, Oat Cosmetics is launching its latest product, Colloidal Oat Flour

For centuries colloidal oatmeal has been used for soothing skin and in 2003 it was recognised as a skin protectant for the relief of a variety of dermatoses by the FDA. The ingredient maintains anti-inflammatory, anti-itch, antioxidant and protective properties that make the oatmeal a versatile cleanser and moisturiser that protects damaged skin. It can, therefore, be used in gels, lotions, shampoos, powders and creams. Why is Colloidal Oat Flour so unique? Its unique efficacy is due to the cereal crop, oats (Avena sativa) complex composition of beta glucans, avenanthramides, phenolics and saponins. Also, conventionally colloidal oatmeal was manufactured by the ultra-fine grinding of the insoluble flour and bran to allow it to become colloidal. However, Oat Cosmetics has developed an innovative process to solubolise the oat kernel to produce a fully natural oatmeal without the need to process the oats so extensively. All in all, the new ingredient is a cost-effective and versatile base for skin creams and lotions where high activity is required. To find out more about this ingredient, please visit the website at www.oat.co.uk or pay a visit to stand no. 116 at the SCS Formulate event in Coventry on 9th and 10th November, where Oat Cosmetics will have a number of new ingredients available to sample. -Ends- Words: 211
