The organisers of the leading industry show offer delegates the opportunity to honour the IMO Year of the Seafarer with global maritime charity

The world’s most prestigious shipping trade event - Posidonia 2010 – is currently honouring the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Year of the Seafarer by supporting international maritime charity Sailors’ Society, and raising awareness of the vital work they do to support seafarers across the globe, at the conference. Sailors’ Society are currently running an initiative which helps shipping organisations pay their own tribute to the IMO Year of the Seafarer by making recognised donations to the charity. The organisers of Posidonia 2010 have provided the charity with promotion for the campaign through their regular newsletters to delegates, and by showing a DVD in the breakout areas of the conference and the main restaurant which highlights the practical and spiritual support the Sailors’ Society offers to seafarers who face challenging conditions in their daily work. Director of Fundraising Jan Webber said: “This is our first visit to Posidonia, and we’re delighted to be the charity of choice for this conference. Sailors’ Society is fortunate to have a number of proactive Ambassadors for the charity who are helping the industry to recognise the Year of the Seafarer and make their tribute through charitable donations. We are hoping that we will meet some new Ambassadors and supporters at the event. We are grateful to the Mr Vokos and the organisers of Posidonia for their support and their commitment to our Year of the Seafarer campaign, and encourage all the delegates to look out for us, and our leaflets, throughout the meeting.” If you would like to find out more about the Sailors’ Society’s Year of the Seafarer campaign, or make a donation, please contact the Sailors’ Society on corporate@sailors-society.org or follow them on twitter www.twitter.com/sailorssociety Ends Words: 281
