Thomas Eggar in Southampton has named The Rose Road Association as their charity of the year. The charity has been providing high quality services for children and young people with complex disabilities for over 50 years. As part of their commitment to the charity, they will be organising the first ever Thomas Eggar Charity Triathlon in aid of Rose Road, which will raise funds for the new What a Difference a Day Makes Children’s Appeal. This aims to offer services such as music therapy and day trips for profoundly disabled children and respite care to allow their parents and carers a break from their challenging routine. The triathlon will see mixed teams of up to 10 people taking part in an event which includes a 13 mile run, swimming over a mile and finishing with a 28 mile cycle ride at David Lloyd gym in Southampton on 24th November 2010. Teams from across the region are welcome to take part; the final deadline for entries is 30th September, but places are disappearing fast. As part of their support, Thomas Eggar is also sponsoring The Rose Road Crystal Ball, which includes a charity auction and the chance for guests to win a Suzuki Alto SZ3. The Southampton office of the firm has a strong relationship with the charity, not just supporting and participating in their fundraising events but also with members of the team serving on the charity’s Appeal Committee and having representation on the Board of Trustees. Tony Edwards, Managing Partner at Thomas Eggar said: “On behalf of my colleagues at Thomas Eggar, it gives me great pleasure to support Rose Road and their new Children’s Appeal. It is an important part of out ethos to give something back to the community and to actually see where the money will be spent and the people who will benefit.” For more details about the triathlon, visit the website at: www.roseroadchildrensappeal.org.uk ENDS 309 WORDS
