Southampton solicitors give the gifts of time and care to disabled children

Teams of up to ten people from businesses across the region took part in a recent Triathlon to raise funds for Southampton-based charity, Rose Road. The event, which was organised by Thomas Eggar LLP and took place at David Lloyd leisure in Southampton, raised over £5000 for the charity. Teams completed 13.1 mile run, swam over a mile and finished the day with a 28 mile cycle ride to raise funds for the new What a Difference a Day Makes Children’s Appeal. The Children’s Appeal aims to offer services such as music therapy and day trips for profoundly disabled children and respite care to allow their parents and carers a break from the daily challenges of caring for a children with complex disabilities. Naomi Lush, Head of Fundraising of the Rose Road Association commented on the day: “We are absolutely delighted with the success of the event. In total more than £5,000 has been raised for our Children’s Appeal which I hope you will agree is a great achievement and an amount which will go a long way towards supporting our families and children with severe and complex disabilities here at Rose Road.” Hayley Bevis, a solicitor at Thomas Eggar who took part in the event added: "The day ran really smoothly from the first event to the last. All competitors seemed to enjoy themselves and there was certainly an element of competitive spirit in the air! This was a great event to help us demonstrate our continuing support of The Rose Road Association." The event was won by a team from Deloitte. As well as sponsoring the event, the Thomas Eggar team alone raised just under £1,000 and the solicitors confirm they will be continuing to support Rose Road at other events in the future.
