The University of Portsmouth Business School and specialists from accountants and business advisers, BDO Stoy Hayward, joined forces for a special event to help businesses combat the challenges of the current recession through sales and marketing.

The ‘Come learn with us’ seminar provided staff from BDO and clients from the local business community, with the opportunity to hear how companies are rethinking their approach to growing market share in the current climate. Over 50 delegates listened to presentations from Michael Asteris, Principal Economics Lecturer, Sales Management Principal Beth Rogers and Jeremy Noad, Head of Sales and Marketing at BOC, part of the Linde Group, one of the worlds leading Industrial Gases and Engineering company. Local IT specialists Taylor Made Computer Solutions were appreciative of the presentations. Ian Lockwood, Commercial Director commented afterwards: “It’s great to see the University collaborating with local businesses with positive results. The evening has been really beneficial; there were a lot of opinions, ideas and suggestions made, a lot to take back into the office and learn from.” BDO Stoy Hayward partner, Paul Anthony, said: “We continue to build strong relationships with local Universities and colleges and seek to ensure all our staff have a keen commercial awareness of the issues businesses face.. This event was a great example of bringing the two together and, importantly, also benefiting our clients.” -Ends- Words: 262
