2 September 2009 University student ‘Taylor Made’ for award win Student Ruth Sims is celebrating as she has been named as the winner of the Taylor Made Computer Solutions prize for the Best Business and Management Student Performance at the University of Portsmouth Business School. The 30 year-old Southsea resident, who is also a full-time Electrical Engineer at Havant-based Xyratex, is very pleased with the award, a £100 cheque donated by sponsors Taylor Made Computer Solutions, based in Fareham. She said: “I am very grateful to Taylor Made Computer Solutions for this award. Juggling a full-time career with study does have its challenges but it is achievements such as this that does make it all seem worthwhile. “The foundation degree in Business and Management gave me the opportunity to receive a good grounding in a wide variety of relevant topics. It has helped me appreciate the other aspects of a successful engineering operation in addition to those performed in my current role, and I hope to enrol in the BA (Hons) Business and Management top-up course.” Taylor Made Computer Solutions Managing Director Nigel Taylor added: “I am delighted to present the award to Ruth and to continue to support the University of Portsmouth. I have been lucky enough to give two lectures to Business School students this year, both were met with enthusiasm and knowledgeable comments and questions about entrepreneurship and leadership. I wish Ruth and her fellow students all the very best for the future.” -ENDS- Words - 236 Notes to editors Taylor Made Computer Solutions (TMCS) is an exciting and growing specialist computer solutions company based in Fareham, Hampshire, providing complete professional IT and Training solutions for businesses varying in size from small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs), right through to multinational companies.
