Teams compete to win the race, but work together to pledge £100,000 for the Sailors’ Society.

Global giant Technip triumphed at the recent endurance challenge event which saw teams of four take on a 50km bike ride through the stunning Rothiemurchus Forest, a 3km canoe across the beautiful Loch Morlich and a 5km hill run through the Cairngorms National Park – and all in a single day. The event, sponsored by Lloyd’s Register, was a great success with the total fundraising pledge reaching £100,000 to help the Sailors’ Society continue to provide practical and spiritual support to seafarers across the globe. Director of Fundraising Jan Webber said: “We’re delighted with the success of this event. The teams did an excellent job both of competing, on what turned out to be a beautiful day and also in raising funds. We were particularly touched by the generosity of our main sponsor Lloyds Register and to Land’s End Corporate and Teamwear division for providing commemorative polo shirts for all the participants to wear at the prize giving dinner, as a souvenir of their experience in the Cairngorms.” The first three teams past the finishing line have set a high standard for future teams wanting to take part, and the results show what a close race it became: 1st place: Technip – “The Lost Boys” 5 hours 13 minutes 2nd place: Lloyd’s Register – “Energy Required” Joint with LOC London 3rd place: Red Sky Management – 5 hours 43 minutes and 42 seconds Consultants Morgan Stanley took the prize for the raising the most funds. Due to the success of the event, Sailors’ Society will be running the Wilderness Challenge at the Cairngorms National Park again in September next year. The charity is keen to hear from companies and teams looking to take part and take on the Technip record in 2011.
