Fareham Shopping Centre awards arts and crafts goodies

Three talented young artists each won a hamper full of arts and crafts materials from The Works this week in a colouring competition run by Fareham Shopping Centre. Meadow (4) from Starfish Nursery in Fareham, Lyle (7) from St Anthony’s RC School in Titchfield and Holly (9) from Ranvilles Junior School in Fareham were the talented winners of the competition, which was launched to help support and celebrate the town’s well-known Fareham in Bloom campaign. The campaign encourages all sectors of the community to become involved in enhancing the Borough by providing bright and colourful planting schemes. Children from many schools and clubs from around the area were invited to take part in the colouring contest and hundreds of entries were received. Centre Director, Pam Marsden, comments: “Fareham in Bloom really does make the town a much more pleasant place to live and work; it develops community spirit, local pride and brings visitors to the area. Congratulations to our three winners and commiserations to those who didn’t win. A lot of time and effort went into all the entries received and each one deserves a big ‘well done’.” As well as the arts and crafts goodies, the winners will see their entries on display as part of a 6ft by 4ft poster which will be in the Centre throughout the summer months.
