Storewell AS to launch portable biometric data security solution from Loqware Technologies Gothenburg May 7, 2002 - Further expanding its position in the storage solutions market, Storewell AS has been named the Norwegian distributor for Loqware Technologies AB, the Swedish manufacturer of the world's first biometrically secured hard disk drive, called LoqDrive 250 SPR. The LoqDrive 250 SPR is a secure portable hard disk, and is accessed through a biometric fingerprint sensor, located at the topside of the product. The product, with its security nestled in its i-Loq technology, enables secured communication between the fingerprint sensor and the controller board. Equipped with an electronic security lock combined with a biometric fingerprint authentication system, the LoqDrive runs independently of the computer's operating system, BIOS, or application software, and operates through a USB interface. The product is shipped in 10 GB, 30GB, and 40Gb storage sizes. No software or drivers needs to be installed on the computer, which makes the LoqDrive ideal for mobile use. "Our goal at Loqware was to develop a functional yet easy method of tackling the problem of lost and compromised data, in the office or on the go. When 70% of computer crime consists of inside jobs, and while 97% of stolen computers are never found, it stands to reason that we must protect the most vital element of any PC system, and that's the stored data. With the LoqDrive 250 SPR, the impact of any lost or stolen computer equipment is at least dampened with the knowledge that the information taken is inaccessible," said Kenneth Hübner, Sales Manager at Loqware Technologies. "Storewell has a reputation for superior service to their vendor partners. The quality of their products and service helps to develop and apply optimal channel strategies for their partners. This kind of competence is what really appealed to us about Storewell. A service- minded national distributor, well liked and respected, makes an incalculable difference as far as partner relations are concerned. We at Loqware are pleased to be in such good company, and look forward to work with Storewell," said Hübner.
