Partner solutions accelerate time to market and reduce software investment for wireless manufacturers

MILPITAS, Calif., 24 February 2012 – LSI Corporation (NYSE: LSI) today announced enhanced ecosystem support for its Axxia® platform that accelerates time to market and lowers software investment for mobile equipment manufacturers. LSI and its growing base of ecosystem partners provide hardware and software solutions for 4G wireless base stations designed to help networking manufacturers and service providers contend with massive mobile broadband data usage growth. LSI is working with the lead partner in the Axxia mobile ecosystem, Radisys, to integrate and optimize its Trillium 3G and 4G wireless protocol software for the LSI® Axxia platform.

This expansion of the LSI networking ecosystem will:

* Allow wireless manufacturers to more quickly bring solutions to market while minimizing product development costs

* Provide a consistent software framework that allows seamless migration across the Axxia family, allowing solutions to scale from small cells to super macro base stations

* Embed intelligence in base stations and wireless infrastructure to identify traffic and deliver the right data at the right time

“We established the LSI networking ecosystem several years ago in anticipation of service providers’ need for robust, combined solutions as they race to deploy 4G wireless infrastructure solutions,” said Noy Kucuk, vice president of marketing, Networking Components Division, LSI. “The mobile ecosystem provides a suite of tools and solutions that work together to speed time to market and deliver the performance and power benefits of the Axxia family.”

The mobile platform framework maximizes software reuse and enables customers to optimize their investment choices by focusing their scarce resources on highly differentiated solution development. Customers benefit from the ability to simply deploy solutions from ecosystem members. LSI and ecosystem partners work together to pre-integrate solutions and drive interoperability.

“Leveraging software investments from small cells to macro base stations will help speed the adoption of 4G networks at lower costs for our customers,” said Amit Agarwal, vice president and general manager of software and solutions, Radisys. “By combining the LSI Axxia platform with our optimized Trillium wireless software, wireless OEMs can tackle the scalability issues of all types of mobile infrastructure.”

The Axxia platform combines the programmable flexibility of general-purpose processors with the deterministic performance of special-purpose accelerators from LSI to provide scalable and customizable solutions for mobile infrastructure. Based on a coherent multiprocessor interconnect and LSI Virtual Pipeline™ technology, Axxia processors can be tailored to unique OEM requirements.

Information on the LSI mobile ecosystem and networking portfolio will be available at the LSI hospitality suite AV76 at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, February 27 to March 1. The LSI stand is located midway along the Avenue near the crosswalk between the Courtyard and Hall 8 of the exhibition.
