BookWorks: Lulu Jr. And Fablevision To Launch Self-Publishing Platform For Children
When I was growing up, one year our school tried an experiment and launched a children’s book writing lesson for the entire first grade. We all practiced writing and illustrating our own books, both as classes and as individual students, and at the very end of the unit we all tried our hand at creating a final book that was then bound and presented to us at the end of the year. It was a very rewarding experience that I look fondly on today—sometimes I even wonder if writing my own book so young was the spark that made me want to consider writing as a career later in life.
Lulu Jr, the children’s section of the self-publishing company Lulu, already has some personal book binding kits for sale that are exactly like the ones I used as a child. But last week, they announced that they’re looking to expand with a brand new collaboration with Fablevision Learning called My Awesome Publishing Company!, an online book publishing platform specifically designed to get kids interested in reading and writing their own stories.
