March 31 – April 1 Female Business Leaders, Politicians, and Researchers from Sweden and the Gulf to Discuss Sustainability, Female Leadership and Cross-Regional Communication

Swedish Trade Minister HE Ewa Björling, Nordea’s Chairman of the Board of Directors Hans Dalborg, and the UAE Ambassador to Sweden HE Najla Al-Qassimi will welcome 150 invited participants to Nordea Headquarters in Stockholm. Nordea and the UAE Embassy are hosting the Summit.

Women for Sustainable Growth (WSG) is an outreach project from Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Lund University.

Jaleh Taheri, the Founder and Director of WSG, when asked why the initiative has generated so much attention and support since its founding in June 2010, answered:

“WSG’s unique foci - women, sustainability and the Middle East - are certainly hot topics. But, more importantly, in my conversations with these women, great interest has been expressed in both regions to increase cultural, political and economic cooperation. WSG aims to facilitate this interest and focus the increasing engagement around the themes of sustainability and female leadership.”

Therefore, as Jaleh made clear, the foundation of WSG is conducting research, facilitating a network and running training programs that are beneficial for participants from both regions.

“Women, and men, from Scandinavia and the Middle East, have a lot to gain from doing business or working together – something that becomes evident once misconceptions of the other, which exist in both regions, are overcome.”

The event will also host artists such as Musician Tala Badri, Designer Rabia Zargarpur and Director Nayla Al Khaja from the UAE and the Of Sweden artisan cooperative.

MEDIA IS WELCOME TO ATTEND THE EVENT IN PART OR FULL BUT MUST REGISTER AT LOCATION PRIOR TO ENTERING SUMMIT.
