BRADLEY TO OFFER SKATING CLINICS FOR LOCAL SKATERS IN ST. JOSEPH, MO, CONCLUDING WITH “LIVE, WITH RYAN BRADLEY” ON AUG. 13 AT BODE ICE ARENA

St. Joseph, MO (July 28, 2011) – Reigning U.S. men’s champion Ryan Bradley will return to his hometown of St. Joseph, MO, to share his successful career with members of local skating clubs, culminating with a live ice show.

Upon his return to St. Joseph, Ryan expressed what returning to his hometown means. “I am really excited to return where my life and skating career began,” he said. “I look forward to helping the skating program of St. Joseph and revisiting my childhood hometown.”

Ryan and his sister Becky Bradley will offer private skating lessons from 6:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on August 11 that the Line Creek Ice Arena in Kansas City and on August 12 that the Bode Ice Arena in St. Joseph. Following the private lessons, Ryan and Becky will hold seminars for advanced skaters from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Clinics for beginning skaters will be held on August 14 that Centerpoint Community Ice in Independence. Following the seminar, Ryan and Becky will hold a question-answer session to discuss their skating experiences and what it takes to become a national champion.

Participants from all three seminars are invited to a welcome party, 5:30 p.m. on August 11 that Edgewise Sport Supply, Kansas City. At the party, all seminar participants will receive tee-shirts autographed by Ryan and Becky.

Headlining the weekend’s festivities will be “Live, with Ryan Bradley, a performance show to give local skaters the opportunity to skate with a national champion. In addition to Ryan, skaters from three local skating clubs (Line Creek FSC, Silver Blades FSC and St. Joseph FSC) will perform. Completing the cast will be two synchronized skating teams, the Griffon Gliders and Kansas City Illusion. The show will begin at 7:00 p.m. on August 13, and tickets are on sale for $10 at www.StJosephFSC.org.

Ryan was born in St. Joseph on November 17, 1983, and began skating at 2 years old. When Ryan was 12, the Bradley family moved to Colorado Springs, CO, where Ryan began training at the World Arena as part of the Broadmoor Skating Club. In 2007, Ryan placed second at the U.S. Championships and made his first world team. Coached by Tom Zakrasjek and sister Becky, he won his first U.S. national title in 2011 and again competed at the World Championships. Ryan announced his retirement from competitive skating following the 2011 World Championships.

Ryan is known for his enthusiastic and entertaining choreography and charisma, as well as for his on-ice back flips.

St. Joseph Figure Skating Club and the city of St. Joseph are excited to welcome Ryan back to where his skating career began. Between the skating clinics and performance show to congratulate Ryan on a successful career on the ice, the weekend promises to be full of fun and excitement.
