Madingley Mulch Invests in New Trucks for Its Bulk Handling Business
Madingley Mulch orders three new DAF trucks from Chassis Cab to boost its regional delivery service
Chassis Cab – the Suffolk and Cambridgeshire-based DAF family-owned dealership – has delivered over £250,000 worth of new trucks to Cambridge-based Madingley Mulch which is a leading supplier of landscape and building materials to customers throughout the Anglia region including bark, wood mulch, soils, composts, conditioners and aggregates from 1 to 30 tonnes or up to 100 cubic metres.
The business is part of East Anglian Haulage, the fast-growing transport business which also operates Madingley Mulch and Madmix concrete supplies. Now with over 30 staff, the business is gearing up for continued expansion with the addition of three new DAF trucks and a replacement ready mix plant which will be opening in March at the company’s main garden and landscaping site at Madingley Road, Coton, Cambridgeshire.
Chassis Cab has supplied three new DAF Euro 6 trucks including a CF FTP440 tractor unit for bulk deliveries of materials to landscape contractors, builders, schools and local government organisations. The new tractor unit is combined with a top specification aggregate trailer giving it a total payload of 30 tonnes. Also supplied as part of the order were two rigid trucks – a 12 tonne LF FA and a 26 tonne CF FAG both fitted with Fassi cranes and dropside bodies for the delivery of landscape and building materials loaded into bulk bags.
Derek Footman, Company Chairman of the family-owned Madingley Mulch business, said: ‘With the growth in construction and house building in Cambridge at the moment, we need the highly-flexible, cost efficient transport support provided by our fleet of 18 specialist trucks. We have moved over to the ultra-reliable DAF trucks, and rely on local dealership Chassis Cab to keep our trucks on the road in order to keep our products moving around the region. We deliver as far as North West London and so need to be emissions-compliant with our fleet. The new Euro 6 standard from DAF ensures that all our trucks meet the most stringent exhaust emissions requirements.'
‘The new trucks offer us all the performance we need to do our job quickly and efficiently and this keeps our customers coming back for further deliveries of bulk materials and landscaping products. We move in excess of 5 000 tonnes of aggregates each day and expect to supply in excess of 20 000 cubic metres of Madmix ready mix concrete each year - once the new plant is fully operational - and so we need to keep investing in our fleet to keep the business running as smoothly as possible. Chassis Cab has provided the optimum solution for us through the supply of these latest top-performing DAF trucks.’
Madingley Mulch was formed 25 years ago.
Speaking on behalf of Chassis Cab in Cambridge, Terry Hall commented: ‘We are proud of this latest delivery to Madingley Mulch designed to further improve delivery efficiency. Our repair and maintenance contract ensures that customers keep their trucks and businesses working without downtime – and so customers are free to concentrate on expanding their business with the confidence that they can always manage the increased workload. ‘
‘Madingley Mulch is benefitting from the fact that it has a broad client base and their customers are constantly looking to enhance and improve their properties and premises. It’s most certainly a successful and growing business.’
The new trucks were delivered with a five-year DAF repair and maintenance contract supplied through Chassis Cab.
