Family-owned Suffolk warehouse and transport company takes delivery of 9 new DAF XF Euro 6 460 Super Space Cab Trucks

DAF dealership Chassis Cab has delivered 9 new trucks to family-owned Parkside Warehousing and Transport, the cargo handling, storage, freight forwarding and transport business with bases at Stowmarket and Ipswich.

The order, valued at almost £1m, for the DAF XF Euro 6 460 Super Space Tractor Units was awarded as the result of a relationship between Chassis Cab and Parkside which has been based on the supply of individual rental trucks to supplement the company’s existing fleet.  This new order replaces the former truck fleet with brand new DAF vehicles supplied with a new and definitive Parkside livery. The business is centred on goods handling and storage including the transportation of containers, de-vanning and onward distribution, throughout the UK.  The customers of the business include distribution companies, retailers, manufacturers, freight forwarders and other logistics companies.

The trucks supplied make up part of a two year deal which includes a full repair and maintenance contract supplied through Chassis Cab.  A full-driver training programme was also provided with the trucks to introduce the features and benefits of the XF Euro 6 460 Super Space tractor units to enable the drivers to make a smooth transition to the new fleet.

‘This was an easy choice for us’, says Daryl Bridges, Transport Manager, at Parkside, ‘The latest technology Euro 6 engines are the best and most fuel efficient trucks ever - and transport efficiency is critical to us and to our customers.  Everything affects profitability and these new trucks will give our business a new edge.  The trucks also run super-clean which minimises the environmental impact of our business.’

‘We are delighted with our new and improved fleet, and are now ready for whatever new business opportunities come our way in the future.’

Chassis Cab Sales Manager David Scarff added, ‘Parkside is a highly-reputable family business with a hugely loyal employee and customer base.  The drivers will be very happy with the new Super Space cabs which give hugely enhanced driver experience; and - with an exceptional servicing and maintenance contract in place - customers will benefit from the fact that there goods will always be where they need to be – when they need to be there.’

‘The new livery will help to keep the Parkside name at the forefront of the warehousing and transport sector here in the East of England.’

Parkside was set up in 1968 and is still overseen by its Chairman and Founder Roy Holloway (now 83 years of age) and his son Gordon, and daughters, Elaine and Claire and Sarah, who are directors of the business.  The company employs a team of around 30 drivers and staff.

Chassis Cab is a family owned business that has been the main DAF dealer for Suffolk since the early 1990s and DAF Service Dealer for Cambridgeshire since 2006.  Starting out as a commercial vehicle accident repair centre, Chassis Cab has grown to become one of the premier dealers for DAF and a leading supplier of trucks in the region, now with main sites at Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Cambridge.

Based at Addison Way in Great Blakenham, Northern Way in Bury St Edmunds Isleham in Cambridgeshire and most recently at Newmarket Road, Cambridge, Chassis Cab now employs over 158 members of staff between its four separate locations.
