Magnet Schultz Shows BLOC™ at IFSEC 2012 with iPad for Most Compelling Application
Magnet Schultz is exhibiting at IFSEC on Stand 3/D5 in Hall 3.
Electromagnet assembly development specialist, Magnet Schultz Ltd, is exhibiting its innovative new BLOC™ technology alongside a range of locking and holding solenoid products and assemblies at IFSEC 2012 from 14th to 17th May at Birmingham’s NEC complex. BLOC technology is a unique deadlocking shotbolt system that defies forcible attempts to overcome its activated state. It has recognised applications in electronics, security, automation, transport and defence and aerospace – and conceivably many others besides, which is why Magnet Schultz Ltd is running an iPad competition to seek compelling ideas.
Magnet Schultz’s patented BLOC™ deploys solenoid technology to deliver immovable deadlocking. The term ‘BLOC’ stands for Ball Location on Outer Circumference, which gives a nod to the internal construction and function of BLOC devices. “It’s a new kind of solenoid implementation,” says Magnet Schultz Ltd MD Andrew Newton. “It features unique and patented properties that make it eminently suitable for a variety of high security locking applications and is very easily adapted to the needs of the organisation installing the technology. But we know that there must be a raft of other applications beyond our own imagination, perhaps in markets with which we are less familiar,” he adds.
That’s why Magnet Schultz Ltd introduced a competition in February that culminates at IFSEC. The company is keen to use IFSEC to discuss the many applications already identified for BLOC but also to hear from visitors about new potential uses they might envisage for uniquely secure solenoid technology in other applications. By visiting the Magnet Schultz Ltd website (www.magnetschultz.co.uk), participants can view an animation describing the BLOC™ technology in detail and the benefits it can deliver to applications in a wide variety of industry sectors. Importantly, the animation also shows how subtle changes in geometry can alter the functionality of BLOC. The prize for the most compelling idea is a new iPad.
Magnet Schultz Ltd prides itself on being at the forefront of innovation in solenoid and electromagnet engineering applications. As part of the global Magnet Schultz group, the Woking-based company specialises in the design and development of custom solenoid assembly solutions and many of the company’s range of innovative products will be on display at IFSEC on the Magnet Schultz Ltd stand 3/D5 in Hall 3 alongside the new BLOC™ technology.
