Showcase serves up a taste of Dacorum
Local food producers will serve up a taste of Dacorum at the popular business showcase at Shendish Manor on July 11th.
Farmers, fruit and vegetable growers and retailers from across Dacorum will hope to impress local food outlets and buyers with samples of local produce.
Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a pre-event networking lunch at the Showcase, between 11.30am and 1.30pm, bringing together businesses from across the borough for a lunch made from local produce.
Shendish Manor’s head chef Catalin Nastase is preparing a ploughman’s style lunch including locally-reared pork, salami, chutney, salad, scotch eggs, cheese, chocolates and truffles as well as local beer.
The aim is to publicise what food and drink is produced in Dacorum and to encourage and help local people who want to buy locally.
Hotels, restaurants, delicatessens and shops from the area will be able to sample a wide range of local produce all under one roof and to discover for themselves what food and drink is produced in Dacorum.
Dacorum Borough Council, which hosts the Showcase from 1.30pm to 4.30pm, is hoping the event will increase the number of business opportunities in the local supply chain. A range of companies from different industry sectors will also be exhibiting at the Showcase and Hemel Business Buzz will be running FREE speed networking sessions throughout the afternoon.
Councillor Andrew Williams, Leader of the Council, said: “The Showcase is a great way for the best businesses and suppliers from across Dacorum to get to know one another and to identify opportunities to work together.
“This year we are also enabling local food and drink producers to get in front of potential local buyers and to show them directly what they have to offer.”
Dacorum Local Food Initiative spokesperson Nicole Jackson said: “We want local businesses to source as much food and drink locally as they can.
“We know it is not practical for the them to source everything locally but even if they source just five per cent more, that would make a massive difference to the local economy.”
Mike Penning MP said: “The Dacorum Showcase is such an important opportunity to bring so many local companies together under one roof.
“The more aware that local buyers, suppIiers and potential partners are aware of one another the greater the opportunity for them to work together in a way that builds their businesses and boosts the local supply chain.”
