Finland wins three awards in international quality competition, grand prize goes to Israel

PRESS RELEASE 28.1.2016 – Quality Innovation of the Year Prizes Have Been Awarded

The Quality Innovation of the Year Competition has been organized for the ninth time by the Finnish Quality Association and the national quality organizations of the participating countries. In addition to Finland the participating countries were Estonia, Sweden, Latvia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Israel, Basque Country and Lithuania.

A total of 218 innovations participated in the competition and the top 14 were recognized in the Award Ceremony on 27th January 2016 in Tallinn, Estonia. The diplomas signed by the President of the Republic of Finland Mr. Sauli Niinistö were awarded by ambassadors of the participating countries and the grand prize was awarded by Minister of Entrepreneurship of Estonia Ms. Liisa Oviir.

The Innovation of the Innovations prize was awarded to AutoAgrom Israel Ltd. from Israel for their innovation Autonomous Irrigation Controller, an advanced and unique controller which governs autonomously the irrigation and fertigation of crops to generate savings of around 50% in water and fertilizers while increasing yields.

The winners of the competition were chosen by a strict methodology of evaluation the innovations based on their novelty value, usability, learning, customer orientation and effectiveness. The winners were chosen by the chairmen and CEOs of the participating national Quality Associations via a rigorous voting process.
